Associate Movement Director

Gabrielle is an associate movement director for Captivate UK. She is a movement director, theatre maker and artistic director of  Company Gabrielle Moleta, which specialises in Animal Work for stage and screen. Born in UK of Italian/ New Zealand parentage her childhood was spent in Western Australia. She studied Contemporary Dance, Paris, Physical Theatre at Odeon Theater, Vienna and trained as an actor at Arts Ed, London on The Acting Company.

In 2004, Gabrielle was chosen by Catherine Blatchley- Clouzot to inherit the body of work known as Transformation and Imaginative Improvisation. This encompasses her specialism in Animal Work. As inheritor of Catherine’s unique process, Gabrielle continues its direct lineage passed on from teacher to assistant through Clouzot and John Blatchley, from Michel Saint Denis and Jacques Copeau and is its leading practitioner in the UK and Ireland.

Gabrielle has worked on all strands of performance from large- and small-scale theatre and contemporary dance, to film and performance capture. Movement credits include work for The Abbey Theatre, Dublin, BBC, Paramount, National Theatre Studios, Southbank Centre, Shakespeare’s Globe/Westminster Abbey(Mark Rylance/ Claire van Kampen) and for companies including The World Famous (London Olympics 2012), Cartier Global, and Choreographer Léa Tirabasso.

Gabrielle has ongoing artistic collaborations with Fay Simpson-(Lucid Body, NYC) Birgit Nordby- Løvlie (Transformation, Norway), Kalamata Drama, (Greece) and Lyndall Grant (Captivate Action Aus). 

Gabrielle has taught across the globe, including on leading actor training programmes in UK (RADA 2013-2025) and Ireland (Gaiety School of Acting 2024- ongoing), has led masterclasses for the RSC and Schumacher College, and is part of the movement faculty at Shakespeare’s Globe. She has worked in intimacy direction for stage and screen since 2021.
