Advanced Longsword for Stage

A specialist 3-week evening course in advanced Longsword… with an exciting option for further training and upskill for a SAFDi Specialisation Certification and BADC Advanced Single Weapon Certification.

A chance to hone in on advanced fighting with Longsword for stage – with applications for Shakespeare, fantasy and gaming.

This great new course has been created for those who have already some experience in stage and screen combat, who would like some focus time for this frequently-used weapon. We will cover detail in historical forms, dramatic contexts and ways of really hooking the audience into a textured and dynamic story.

The General Course is run over three Thursday evenings, which is ideal for those students who would like the space to really enhance their skills. You then have the option of an additional two days of training at the Up-skill Course for a Specialist weapon certification with the Society of Australian Fight Directors inc, and Advanced Single Weapon certification with the British Academy of Dramatic Combat*.

*To gain the certifications, participants must have a current SAFDi Fundamentals and BADC Standard certification; or expired SAFDi Specialist or BADC ASW certification. If you do not have these you are still heartily welcome to join us for the Upskill Training, without submitting for the final certifications.

General Course: Thursday evenings, 31st October to 14th November, 6:30pm to 9:30pm.

Certification Up-skill Course: Monday 18th November 10:00am – 5:00pm; and Tuesday 19th November 12:00pm to 6:00pm.

Students wishing to gain certification must attend all classes to meet the minimum training hour requirements for both SAFDi and the BADC.
