SUNDAY 23rd JULY 2023
An exciting new one-day Stage Workshop in Geelong, with one of Australia’s most respected Fight Directors, Lyndall Grant.
This is a unique one-day workshop in stage and screen combat, offered for the first time in Geelong!
You will be diving right into sword and unarmed skills for stage, screen and motion capture.
Fights and combat in theatre, film and TV can take many forms – from overt action sequences to ‘simple’ falls; from complex sword fights to moments of physical intimidation. They are often some of the most exciting moments for the audience and most juicy acting moments for the performers.
However for this to happen, they have to be SAFE, TECHNICALLY SOUND and DRAMATICALLY ENGAGING. Without this dramatic fights can end up being stressful, nonsensical and jarring, and they risk causing genuine physical and emotional harm. The remedy? Quite simply – training!
This workshop will throw you right into industry-ready skills for working with swords and unarmed combat in our contemporary performing arts. We will romp through techniques, forms, illusions and performance, and give you the chance to apply your new skills in a performance setting.
By the end of the workshop, you will be ready to approach this work with the knowledge of how to keep yourself and those around you safe. And, well, you would have had an awesome day playing with swords, action and performance with a group of like-minded artists.
